5 Liters of Tear

Picture
What is the relationship between human, environment and machine? This project explores the lifecycle of water and emotional feedback from a machine. Will humanity change if a robot understands our emotion and is able to react to it in a human way? This installation lets people reflect their sorrow by talking to a mannequin.

Using Arduino and Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) technology, the mannequin sheds tears when it detects people saying sad or negative words, such as death, grave, cry and so on. The tears shed watering the ground beneath and symbolizes the nurturing nature of human emotion.

A power head is built inside the mannequin, when a keyword is detected by the machine, it triggers the switch of the water pump and pumps water to the top of the head.
